West Coast ChillHop is a California-born music brand blending G-Funk basslines, smooth jazz chords, and relaxed lo-fi energy into a signature sound inspired by sunsets, palm trees, and old-school West Side culture.

From lowriders cruising PCH to late-night studio sessions under neon skies, West Coast ChillHop captures the warm, nostalgic vibe of growing up on the West Coast — and transforms it into a 24/7 soundtrack for relaxation, creativity, and escape.

OUR STORY

West Coast ChillHop was created by Shaun “Kami Kaze” Kimura, a multiracial Japanese/Hawaiian and Puerto Rican creator born and raised in Southern California. The channel started as a love letter to the culture that shaped him — the G-Funk era, jazz records playing in the house, and the daily rhythm of LA life.

After years of making music, designing art, building brands, and telling stories, Shaun set out to build something the chillhop world had never seen:

A chillhop channel with real West Coast roots.

Not just another faceless lo-fi playlist.
Not another generic anime girl in headphones.

A real brand with a real story.
A sound that represents the coast.
A vibe built for the people who lived it.

That’s how West Coast ChillHop was born.
